Production planning and manufacturing
Production roles are at the heart of Sako
On the production and manufacturing side, you become part of the process that makes precision hunting and sporting rifles and cartridges at our sites in Riihimäki, Hausjärvi and Muurame. In production at Sako, the work is done in a modern factory environment where automation and robotics blend seamlessly with craftsmanship. We invest in cleanliness, ergonomics and, above all, occupational safety. We want everyone to be able to come to work with a good mind and return home healthy.

In our employees’ words

“I like to examine things and think about what went wrong here. It is a combination of character and professional skill. I also like the way a firearm gradually takes shape from smaller parts into a whole. Even as a child I liked building with Lego.”

“Making safe, first-class products demands high quality standards. In everyday work, that requires precision, care and constant communication. If something gives you even the slightest doubt, it is always better to ask.”

“Sako has been a very good employer, and it is great to be part of a process whose end product is excellent. Even though you could make high-quality products elsewhere, working here is really rewarding and things are as they should be.”
Developing competence

Competence is one of Sako’s most important competitive strengths.
We invest in job rotation and in developing multi-skilling, and we make internal moves to different roles possible. Multi-skilling helps us ensure the smoothness of production and cover during absences. In addition, the practice supports our employees’ motivation as their tasks broaden and diversify, and it brings variety and interesting challenges to the work. This also lets us have a positive effect on wellbeing at work and on work ability as the risks caused by repetitive work are reduced. We plan competence development at unit, department and individual level. A separate competence bonus was introduced in production in spring 2025. We assess the level of competence every year.
